The Skis
We operate a fleet of ten Seadoo GTI 130 jet skis, with both guided tours and supervised hires permitted to operate up to six jet skis at a time, five for customers and one for a lead guide.
All tours and hires are led and supervised by trained and experienced local guides, who are responsible for:
Ensuring safety at all times
Enforcing marine-park regulations
Providing environmental and cultural interpretation
Leading groups and supervising all on-water activity
Our guided tours provide expert interpretation of Magnetic Island’s wildlife, ecosystems, and protected areas, while our supervised hires allow guests to explore at their own pace in a 2 km² hire area, the largest freestyle zone on the East Coast of Australia.
Guests receive a comprehensive safety and equipment briefing, and our jet skis’ hull design provides excellent stability, making them perfect for beginners, while still allowing experienced riders freedom.
Based in Horseshoe Bay, a location sheltered from prevailing winds and swells, our operations run daily with multiple departures, with the help of our dedicated team to maintain safety, quality, and educational interpretation.

Meet Andrew and Ash – Founders of Magnetic Island Jet Skis
In 2014, we took over a 30-year-old jet ski business, Jet Ski Hire Magnetic Island, moving from Brisbane for a quieter, more connected lifestyle. In 2024, we expanded into guided tours after our beach neighbours, Magnetic Jet, semi-retired, and that’s how Magnetic Island Jet Skis was born, giving us the perfect platform to share the island hands-on and personally.
We’re lucky to have an incredible local team bringing the fun to life. Josh, our lead tour guide, might be British (we won’t hold that against him), but he’s guided tours across Australia for years. On weekends and during school holidays, you’ll also meet Josh, Jesse, and Clarence, helping guests on and off the skis, managing beach swap-outs, and making sure every ride is a blast.
One of the things we love most about the island is that many businesses here are owner-operated. When you choose to jet ski with us, you’re dealing directly with the people who care most about your experience—us! On any given day, at least one of us is involved in your adventure, making sure it’s nothing short of exceptional.
We have two little boys, Archer and Hayes, who often hang out at the beach with us, reminding us how lucky we are to live this life. While Ash isn’t busy with the boys, she’s our office powerhouse, managing bookings, marketing, socials, and our entire online presence to keep everything running smoothly. She also single-handedly runs This Is Magnetic Island, our online guide supporting local businesses.

Meet Andrew – Co-owner and Head of Tours
After serving in the military, Andrew sought a complete change of pace and found a small jet ski business for sale on Magnetic Island. Though he wasn’t taken seriously at first (by no other than Ash!), the rest is history.
With over a decade on the beach, he has an instinctive understanding of what travellers want. Andrew developed our three signature tour experiences, is chief trainer and hire supervisor, and continues to drive the business forward. If you’re not guided by Josh, you’ll likely be on tour with Andrew, whose love for the island and dedication to exceptional guest experiences shines through every ride.
When he’s not on the water, he’s literally the glue keeping the team together and making all our dreams come true!

Josh brings years of professional guiding experience from across Australia to Magnetic Island Jet Skis. As our lead tour guide, he delivers every tour with expertise, ensuring each guest enjoys a safe, informative, and engaging experience. His in-depth knowledge of the island and meticulous attention to detail mean every group receives environmental, cultural, and marine-life interpretation while he supervises all on-water activity and leads tours in full compliance with marine-park regulations.
